Fighting for Emma Part 1

Hi everyone, it's Reese! I have some more news on Emma, and it's not good news.

Soem of my blog friends wondered if Lucy, Emma's guardian, was mistreating Emma. Unfortunately, my mom told us today that that is what is happening. Well, we can't be positive, because Lucy does not allow Emma to go anywhere, except school. No one is allowed to come to their home. Emma never is allowed to have friends, because they can't see each other outside of school. Despite Emma being kind and shy, Lucy abuses her emotionally. Apparently, Lucy yells at Emma when she doesn't talk, and then yells at her to stop talking.

You might ask, "how do you know all of this information?". This is how we were able to find out.

My mom, Emily, is working with an adoption agency to find out more about Emma. The adoption agency was somehow able to get the information out of Emma. We're not exactly sure how.  We also found out that Lucy is Emma's aunt, but after Emma's parents died, Lucy took guardianship as the only living family member.

We want to report Lucy for child abuse, but every time someone tries to tell Lucy to "let go of Emma", "give the kid a break", or threaten to report her, Lucy threatens that she will kill Emma before the authorities have a chance to get her. Isn't that terrible? Everyone is afraid to do anything, because they don't want Emma to get more hurt, or maybe even killed. I know that Lucy would go to jail for murder, but if Emma was dead, then it would all be over, wouldn't it?

I don't know what to think, and I am so worried about Emma. I've been awake so many nights thinking about her. She is my age after all, and no child (or adult) deserves to go through what Emma has to deal with. My mom said that if they can report Lucy in time, then Emma could be here by the end of May. My mom only told us this information, but I have a single gut feeling that she's hiding something.

Talking About Emma Grace

Hi everyone, it's Reese! Today, I decided to ask my mom about the girl named Emma Grace. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, I talked about Emma before, here, and more recently, here.) This is what happened.

It was around 1 p.m. today. Everyone was off doing their own things, and I was alone. My mom was sitting at her computer, editing a video (I think). I glanced over at Samantha in the kitchen, wearing her ballet leotard, and eating a bowl of Cheerios. Samantha left the room, taking her Winnie the Pooh bowl with her, still full of Cheerios. Deciding that the coast was clear, I walked over to my mom.

"Mom, can I talk to you about something?" I asked.

"Sure thing honey." My mom said, closing her computer, and setting it aside. (By the way, I don't think that the video has been edited.)

"Mom, who's Emma Grace? I- I wasn't trying to snoop, I just..."

"Hang on there sweetie. Where in the world did you hear about Emma Grace?"

"I heard you talking on the phone a few times, and-"

"You're right Reese. I've been meaning to tell this to all of you. Go get all of your sisters, and meet me back here in the living room, okay?"

After all seven of us were sitting on the various living room furniture, my mom began. (It took a while to get everyone downstairs!) She began by explaining how she was thinking about adopting a new girl, named Emma Grace. Emma is an actress from New York City, and fourteen years old. However, there have been some issues. It's been difficult trying to convince Emma's guardian, Lucy, to let us adopt her.  Not to mention the fact that if we were able to adopt Emma, it wouldn't be until May. (This is because of all of the legal stuff that my mom has to deal with.) None the less, my mom still hopes to adopt her and bring her here, to our cozy little suburban (is that even a word?) home.

All of our reactions were very different. Isabella shrieked in excitement for a new girl her age. Maggie just sighed, and told mom to do what she felt was best. Samantha began bouncing up and down (literally!) and asking all about her. My mom told Samantha that Emma was fourteen (If we are able to adopt Emma, she would be fifteen by the time that she arrived.), has long caramel-colored hair and aqua eyes, and that Emma is very petite. Anna sighed, and asked, "Great, another new girl?" Katie seemed happy, although it was hard to tell. Nellie and I smiled and told mom that we would love to have Emma here.

So, Emma Grace is a real girl, and possibly our new sister! I hope that we can adopt her, although the legal stuff, and convincing Lucy (Emma's guardian) seems as if it is going to prove to be very difficult. Do you think we'll be able to adopt Emma?

New information about a new girl

Hi everyone, it's Reese! I hope you had a great Easter a few days ago. Do you remember when I wrote the post about a possible new girl? In the comments, some of you speculated about my mom adopting a new girl. Over the course of a week, I've become more fond of the idea of having another girl around. Today, I found out some new information.

Around noon today, my mom was on the telephone again. I've noticed that she's been making a lot of calls lately. She hasn't been using her "regular" voice either; instead, a more serious tone.

I heard the name Emma Grace used a lot. I also heard references to a woman named Lucy in Washington. Descriptions of a young girl were heard on the other end of the line: fourteen, heart-shaped face, long caramel hair, and aqua eyes. I'm not sure what any of those had to do with anything, but I thought I would add those in here. After these things, the most serious thing happened. My mom said,

"Okay, I can work with May. I'll meet her then, I suppose?"

It definitely sounds like someone else is coming. I think her name is Emma Grace, and she's fourteen years old.

What do you think of the situation? Should I tell my other sisters? Do you think Emma's coming in May? However, this could not be for us. My mom has worked at adoption agencies before, but she's never taken any home calls.

I don't really know what to think, but I have a gut feeling that Emma Grace will be my new sister.

A New Girl?

Hi everyone, it's Reese, reporting some important news. This may be a rumor, or it may be true. We're not sure yet.

Last night, it was around 10:00 p.m. when I was crawling into bed. I saw a light on in my mom (Emily)'s bedroom. This was not unusual, but something seemed wrong. I decided to investigate the situation. While wearing my lavender pajamas, I crept down the hall to the bathroom and shut the door. I could hear mom pretty well across the hall.

"Yes, yes, I do want Emma." My mom said in a stressed voice. "How long will it take? May? But that's in two months from now!"

I didn't know what she was talking about, but it made me feel worried. Who was Emma? Why was my mom talking about when she would be coming?

Was Emma a new girl?

I decided to go back to my bedroom to try to get some sleep. After all, tomorrow was Monday, which meant school for me. Still, I couldn't manage to fall asleep. Who was Emma? I didn't want to be replaced! I've only been here since December, and now someone else is arriving?

Quietly, I heard my mom enter my bedroom. Quickly, without a sound, I pretended to be asleep. My mom turned off my lamp, took my Algebra/Trig notebook from where it was sitting on my bed, and left the room. I breathed a silent sigh of relief.

That's all I know so far. I fell asleep shortly afterwards, around 10:30 p.m.

Who do you think Emma is? How would you react to this situation?

The Hunger Games!

Hi everyone, it's Reese! (Sorry that I haven't blogged in a while; school's been crazy!) Last night, I went to see The Hunger Games movie with Nellie and my mom, Emily. (Disclaimer: These are just my personal opinions on the movie, so please no mean comments! There are also a few spoilers ahead.) I loved the movie!

I read the books about a year ago. Because of the storyline, I knew that the movie would be PG-13. It was amazing to see on the big screen. I loved Jennifer Lawrence and I feel that she played the role of Katniss perfectly!

I don't want to give away too much, as I don't want to spoil it. However, the violent parts are pretty quick, but if you're a sensitive person, it might be too much for you. Another part of the movie that I disliked was the shaky cameras. They used this on purpose of scenes such as the fire scene, when Katniss is running. This is also used in the violent parts. For the shaky camera, I mainly had to just look away, as shaky cameras make me sick. I definitely loved this movie, and I even got a mockingjay pin!

However, there are some parts of the movie that I feel could have been done better. In the scenes where Rue and Katniss develop an alliance, they cut out a lot of the details. I wish that they had included more on how Rue reminded Katniss of Prim. They also cut out scenes with Madge, Greasy Sae, Gale, and the red-headed Avox girl. They also made the cave scenes with Peeta very short. None the less, the film was 2 hours and 22 minutes, so it was plenty long.

Again, I don't want to give too much away, so if you want to know more, ask me directly, or even more exciting, go see the movie! I love The Hunger Games!

Love,
Reese

P.S. Happy late birthday to Maggie and Isabella! The twins turned 15 on March 25th! A post should be up sometime in the near future.

P.P.S. Spring break begins on Thursday, April 5th! Once break begins, lots of blog posts will be on the way!

P.P.P.S. Happy April Fools' Day! Do you have any tricks planned?
